Intel has just announced the availability of a new firmware package compatible with its SSD E 6100p series products, namely version 004E, which improves NAND refresh algorithms, full disk encryption time, as well as error logging for SSD failure analysis.

In addition to that, the current release resolves PS4 power state transition issue that caused a system BSOD or hang, fixes the unexpected power loss SMART reporting, and enables NVM Subsystem Reset.

As for upgrading, owners can make use of Intel’s 3.5.7 SSD Toolbox or 3.0.5 SSD Firmware Update Tool (FUT), both capable of installing firmware 004E, but via different methods.

The SSD Toolbox is compatible with Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 platforms (both 32- and 64-bit architectures, as well as with Windows Server 2008 R2, Server 2012, and Server 2016 operating systems; while the SSD FUT runs regardless of the computer’s OS.

However, take into account that the SSD Toolbox is a drive management software that allows you to perform various changes to improve your SSD functionality, whereas the SSD FUT can only install a newer firmware (if available). Still, both packages are compatible with a large number of SSD models.

Therefore, save the appropriate package that complies with your desired installation method, familiarize yourself with the update process, follow the instructions displayed on the screen, and apply the latest firmware for your SSD model.
