H1Z1: Battle Royale icon Enjoy the game that started the Battle Royale trend in a post-apocalyptic setting where the last one standing is declared the victor

The battle royale genre has certainly made an impact on the gaming market, following the same footsteps as the MOBA did. Originally the battle royale genre started as a game mode for an already existent game, although which game came up with the concept first is still the subject of dispute.

Some would argue that it all started with H1Z1, which is further reinforced that the game project was eventually split into multiple projects, one of which is H1Z1: Battle Royale, and it focuses solely on the battle royale aspect of the game.

Push the limits of the battle royale game

There is no rule written somewhere about how many players must start on a map for a game to be considered truly "battle royale', however, most popular titles use 100 players.

H1Z1: Battle Royale takes that a little bit further, with matches containing up to 150 players that compete against each other in a last man standing deathmatch.

You can choose to go all lone wolf or to team up in groups of two or five, as sometimes cooperation improves the chance of survival.

The same game premise as all battle royale game

You all start off being deployed via parachute above the map, and this phase can offer certain tactical advantages since you can also see where all the other players present are hidden.

Passive or aggressive gameplay are both equally rewarding since sometimes it is better to hide while the others kill each other instead of going all guns blazing.

Move around on foot or driving

The map is enormous, and traveling by foot can become boring and, in some cases, dangerous, so a variety of vehicles are scattered around the map for you to use.

These vehicles can come in handy when chasing down opponents, feeing attackers or just reaching checkpoints faster.

Make do with what the world offers you

Players can scavenge a variety of supplies from their surroundings, including weapons, equipment, and first aid kits.

The game also features a crafting system that allows players to create makeshift tools, such as deconstructing scavenged items into functional bandages or body armor.

The first aid kits are especially useful here since being shot also causes you to bleed, so getting away from a firefight with little health can still prove fatal if the wounds are left untreated.

Death is inevitable

While hiding can be good, you should remember that one aspect of all battle royale games: the closing map area.

In this game, it comes in the form of a toxic cloud that deals damage to enemies, which effectively makes the playable portion of the map smaller, so that players are eventually forced to confront one another in close quarters.

Battle Royale in a realistic post-apocalyptic world

While strictly from a gameplay element this game seems no different from all the other titles out there, some fans may like the post-apocalyptic art style with an eastern European vibe to it.
