Mobvoi, the company behind the increasingly popular TicWatch, has unveiled two new smartwatches at the CES 2019 show, both running Wear OS and coming with improved specs over their predecessors.

The pair comes with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 400x400 pixels and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor.

Featuring a circular design that reminds of a traditional watch, the TicWatch E2 and TicWatch S2 are made from polycarbonate, which is a material that doesn’t add too much weight on your wrist, but is supposed to be quite durable and resist the typical hits that watches are prone to.

As compared to their predecessors, both the E2 and the S2 come with larger batteries, as they are powered by a 415 mAh unit that should easily get you through the day. This is quite an improvement given that the TicWatch C2, which we recently reviewed, comes with a 400 mAh battery.

But the truly impressive thing about the new TicWatch models is that they feature improved water resistance.

The devices have a waterproof rating of 5 ATM, which means that they should resist being submerged in water up to 50 meters deep. Mobvoi has also developed a dedicated swimming mode, so it can track your activity and help you improve.

On the other hand, there’s no NFC chip on these models, so wireless payments are not supported.

Just like the previous models, the TicWatch S2 and E2 will continue to work with both Android and iOS devices, though it goes without saying that you’d receive the full benefits of the smartwatches when paired with a phone powered by Google’s mobile operating system.

No details have been provided on the pricing of these new models, but Mobvoi says we should expect them to become available in the near future.
