Razer announced during CES 2019 its first gaming monitor and it’s called the Razer Raptor. And yes, it comes with RGB lighting.

Razer is well-known for their products aimed at gamers, and they’ve managed to cover pretty much all major peripherals, and then some. Their interest in the gaming market extends to laptops as well, so a dedicated monitor is not all that unexpected.

The latest Razer Blade 15 Advanced was unveiled at CES 2019 as well, which is an upgraded edition of their Blade laptop. The new model comes with the newer RTX-20 series from Nvidia, including RTX 2060, RTX 2070 Max-Q, and RTX 2080 Max-Q.

Never forget the RGB

The Razer Raptor has WQHD (2560×1440) IPS display with extremely small bezels of just 2.3mm. It’s not a 4K monitor, but it does come with FreeSync support and 144 Hz refresh rate. It’s a compromise to keep the price of the monitor as low as possible.

Razer also promises that the monitor “will display vibrant colors, with its 95 percent DCI-P3 wide color gamut and support for HDR content, providing deep blacks for truly immersive viewing experiences. Color profiles will be programmed into the monitor to address gamer and prosumer demands for optimized gaming, movie and productivity settings.”

And, as I’m sure that everyone will either love it or have it, Razer Raptor features Chroma support, for the base. It might seem like a weird choice for a monitor, to have the stand glow in various colors, but if you already have some of their peripherals you already know that you can’t get enough RGB support.

Another cool feature, which should be used much more, is cable management, which has everything neatly folded into the stand in a way that’s not really done with today’s monitors.

For now, we know that it’s going to be priced at $699.99 MSR, which is not all that much, considering. The launch date is “later this year,” but we’ll make sure to review it as soon as it launches.
