The weekend is the debut race for BYUE Racing, where Brian Yue was racing for the novice class. It is definitely a very tricky weekend for BYUE Racing as the weather was quite unpredictable with rain on and off.
The weekend consisted of Saturday practice, qualify time trial, pre-final qualify race; Sunday with warm up and final race. Struggled with doing a good time during time trial, Brian Yue finished 15th on the grid for the pre-final qualify race.
Heavy rain soon arrived for other sessions as well as for most of the pre-final qualify race, including Brian's. Rain tires was on and on with the pre-final race. Rain tires worked really well but an unfortunate incident took place where Brian had spun while trying to avoid another spun from the kart in front. Another kart from behind hit straight into the stalled karts shortly afterwards, causing damages to both karts. The results led Brian to start from 15th on the grid for the final.
Zens Racing's mechanics quickly repair Brian's damage part for Sunday final race. The track was damped and the race director instructed the mandatory use of rain tires. Grip for the rain tires were not as great on damped tracks in comparison to rain condition. With less grip than expected, Brian managed to finish his debut race.
Although BYUE Racing was struggling, other team members fo Zens Racing did an excellent job with Joe Au's dominance victory within the intermediate class, who also started from pole. Gary Yip also receive a podium finish as 5th from a 12th grid start, an excellent drive for the Formula K team manager.
There are certainly a lot of improvments that need to be done in the future, and I look forward to better results.
BYUE Racing would also like to thank all mechanics from Zens Racing for the excellent support and services provided during the race weekend, really cannot do it without you guys!
Looking forward to the next race!
